Web Portal - One major initiative the team is focused on is providing a robust and centralized online location of resources to serve entrepreneurs. As we’ve looked at other regions across the country and talked to entrepreneurs about their needs, we have learned that resources need to be easy to locate and hassle free. We also know that while we have many resources available, they are not well known, or easy to navigate; further, there is no current portal developed or promoted as a “one-stop solution”. We are in the final development stage of GreaterLansingEntrepreneur.com, a portal that will offer entrepreneurs a robust resource library, the ability to easily connect with a resource representative, a social network to connect with other entrepreneurs, a calendar of relevant events in the region and links to key regional partners and providers like MSU E-Net, SBTDC and Leap Springboard.
Regional Ecosystem – we will utilize funding provided through the Regional Entrepreneurial Collaborative (REC) grant funding received in August to ensure we are appropriately serving entrepreneurs by 1) connecting entrepreneurs with resources; 2) connecting resources with resources and 3) connecting entrepreneurs with entrepreneurs. The team is working to ensure that in addition to a robust portal for entrepreneurs that we have an ecosystem that is efficient, accessible programmatically rich and well known to those that need it. Also, Leap is collaborating with the newly formed MSU E-Network to ensure there is a direct connection between campus and community, and that we are leveraging each other’s resources in serving entrepreneurs based on their type, maturity and need. MSU E-Net will work to serve the student and very early stage entrepreneurs, and the Leap Springboard team and program will connect when there appears to be a viable business proposition and potential for commercialization and job creation.
